SEEK BOY BANDITS IN HOME HOLDUP
Police today are looking for two boys of grade school age who used all the tricks of the trade when they took about $56 from a mother and her daughter yesterday afternoon in their home at W. 34th st. and Road 52. According to Mrs. Marilyn Phillips the two boys first came to her house about noon and asked for a job. She said they were about 10 and 12 years old. When she said she had no work, they left, A few minutes later they were at
the door again, asking for a drink of water, Then the youngest boy
{pulled out a revolver and said, “We ‘want $15.”
Mrs. Phillips gave them a $20 bill and they took about $36 in change from the bank of 9-year-old Florence Phillips. Mrs. Phillips said the boys also took a 22-caliber revolver. The state police reported that the boys hitchhiked south on road 52 to Flackville, where they took a bus for Indianapolis. Police found one revolver along the highway. —————————
New Guns Make B-24 Real Tough
DETROIT, Aug. 12 (U. P).— The Ford Motor Co. revealed today, with permission of the war department, that the consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber manufactured on a mass-production basis in its huge Willow Run plant now is armed with an Emerson nose turret containing two 50-caliber machine guns. The new guns give the bomber, already respected by axis fighter pilots, important additional protection. The turret can fire an armorpiercing screen of 2000 bullets a minute and its construction gives the gunner visibility of almost 360 degrees, an important factor .in spotting approaching enemy aircraft,

CHICAGO, Aug. 12.—If everyone admitted to a hospital were given a routine X-ray or fluoroscopic chest examination, about four per cent of the patients would be found to have evidence of unsuspected tuberculosos infection, if findings of a twoyear demonstration at Grasslands hospital, Westchester county, N. Y., are typical. Six out of each thousand examinations showed: active disease requiring hospitalization or close observation in ‘the study reported by Drs. William G. Childress, A. G. Debbie, and E. L. Harmon of Valhalla, N. Y,, in the forthcoming issue of the Journal of the American Medical association.
