hometown boy (Van Heflin) who made good as a New York producer and gets kicked out. Undaunted, sh e goes to New York and gets a role as chambermaid in one of the Heflin productions. The temperamental star of the show, Marta Eggerth, ~ walks out and Judy is gracmed for the id oY part. She fails Judy Garland and Heflin gets the star to return. The producer is in love with Judy, but. their future depends on the way she takes this blow. You'll see how it turns out at the St. Clair and Strand; tomorrow through next Wednesday; the Belmont, Sunday through Tues= day; Ambassador, Sunday through next Wednesday, and the Uptown, Sunday through next Thursday. This is light entertainment, based on a novel by Booth Tarkington. Judy sings five songs, accompanied by Bob Crosby and his orchestra and Tommy Dorsey and his boys. ” ” » PAT O'BRIEN and Randolph Scott are the heroes. of the “Bombardier” film. The Irishe man is in Y charge of a bombardier : training school in the West, located on an air field which once belonged ‘to Anne Shirley’s father. Scott comes to the field to pilot planes for the bombardiers in training, and to give Anne a Pat O’Brien big rush. Comes Pearl: Harbor, and the boys are ordered out on their first mission. Scott’s job is to light the target 'by incendiaries and flares. He gets captured, and he ana Barton MacLane run around on the ground setting fire to everything in sight to save the day for the bombardiers who . return home with mission accomplished.
