man of Indianapolis, now a prisoner in a Yokohama prsion camp, was picked up by shortwave receiver by E. E. Alderman, Dayton, O., who has received 1200 messages from Tokyo. Kauffman of the U. S. army medical corps, 31st infantry, is the son of Mrs. Bessie Kauffman, 3337 College ave.
The message said the sender received Red Cross parcels and adds: “Regards to my friends in the old Eli Lilly Co. clinics. Good old Indiana; can’t get Indiana off my mind, you know. All my love, Nel-
son.”
Mr. Alderman added: “Your son's voice was quite clear and it sounded happy and without duress.”

Four additional war training classes under the sponsorship of Purdue university and the U. S. office of education will begin early next week. Guy Long, Purdue war training drafting instructor, will start an intensive three-week course in fundamentals of engineering drawing at 8a. m, Monday in room 42, Indiana university extension building, 122 E. Michigan st. The class is open to high school graduates or persons with equivalent training. Daytime courses in direct current circuits, machinery, and industrial electronics will be organized Monday for civilian instructors of the
