Avoid Clothes Cut on Bias
Bias-cut garments can cause no end of annoyance. If you make your own clothes, avoid as far as
possible pieces cut on extreme bias. |
The trouble, according to the National Association of Dyers & Clean-
ers, is that fabrics stretch along the
bias more easily than along the straight of the material. Professional dressmakers, aware of this, allow dresses to hang for several] days, after which sagging is noted and the hemline adjusted. | Wearing alone may cause flared | panels set at angles to distort.! Although a good cleaner can often restore the original shape, the tendency remains. When dresses are | really badly soiled even the best cleaner may be baffled. The solution seems to be to keep them clean and to lay them away, not hang them.
