Board’s Appointment of 2025 for City Includes Five |

Changes in Principals of Elementary Schools.

The school board today announced the appointment of 2025 administrators and teachers to staffs of the Indianapolis:

public schools for 1943-44.

Among those named were 1009 elementary and junior; high school teachers, 682 high school instructors and 89 ele-|:

mentary school principals and ‘Others appointed include 71 economics and industrial arts instructors, 12. teachers and nurses for special education departments, 21 social workers, 26 directors, assistant directors, supervisors and assistant supervisors, 2 assistant superintendents, 7 high school prinpals and 13 high school vice principals. : Assignments Changed ‘The board approved the resignation of 26 members of the staff and granted leaves of absence to 53.

Changes in the assignment of principals were made as follows: Miss Wallace Montague, principal of school 25, was assigned as principal of school 80, to succeed Miss Edith Hall, resigned. Lawrence Stafford, principal of school 75, was assigned as principal of school 32, to succeed Paul Miller, who was appointed a general-super-visor. ‘Miss Augusta Nessler, principal of school 30, was assigned as principal of school 75. Mrs. Jessie Chalifour, a teacher at school 30, was appointed principal to succeed Miss Nessler.

Miss Banta Moved ‘George Mitten, assistant principal at school 47, was appointed principal of school 27, to succeed

Miss Fay Banta, who was appointed to a teaching position at school 52. Miss Ginevra McCoy, a teacher at school 21, was appointed assistant principal of the school. Miss Marie Stewart, supervisor of art, was appointed assistant director of fine and practical arts. She will succeed Miss Belle Scofield, who retired. Owen A. Johnson was appointed co-ordinator of distributive education; Mr. Johnson sgrved in this capacity part time last year.

Manual Changes

Changes at Manual Training high gchool included the following: A. Ross Williams was appointed chairman of the history department to succeed J. R. H. Moore, who fo» years has been head of the d tment. Mr. Moore will continue teaching haif time. Ruth H. Shull, dean of girls, was appointed director of girl activities. At Technical high school, Grace A. Emery was appointed head of the Latin department, to succeed M. C. Twineham, deceased. Dwight Park was appointed head of the department of English; he had been serving as chairman of the depart--ment. Oakley Richey was appointed head of the art department. He had been serving as acting chairman. H. Harold Walters, a teacher » of drafting, was made chairman of the drafting department.
