CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind., June 4—That ever intriguing pupil versus story will be re-enacted today and tomorrow when Ohio State’s high flying nine tangles with Camp Atterbury. The Ohioans are taking z date originally scheduled for the disbanded squad from Indiana i university. Back in 1940 Ralph Waldo was playing second base for Ohio f8tate under Fritz Mackey. The following year he was signed to assist

However, the soldiers have had a chance to smooth out the rough spots this past week and are prepared to shoot the works for the first time this season. Pfc. Fritz Bernardi, former ace from Savannah, will take the|© mound in the opener. Last time out he pitched a no-hitter against Stout Field. Although the games were arranged at a late date, it was in keeping with Ohio State’s policy to play as many service teams as possible in all sports.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. June 4—
uled yesterday afternoon, the Indians and Blues are booked for double duty this evening in a twi-light-night double-header. The twin bill was created by moving up tomorrow's scheduled game. The tilt postponed yesterday will be played on the Tribe's next visit to Kansas City in late July. On their off-day tomorrow the Indians will $pend it traveling to Milwaukee to open a series with the Brewers Sunday. In tonight's bargain attraction at Ruppert stadium, Pilot Ownie Bush of the Tribesters has nominated Jim Trexler, southpaw, and George Diehl, righthander, for mound service. : Pilot Neun Names Hurlers
Manager Johnny Neun of the Blues indicated he would call on Tommy Reis and Clem Hausmann. It will be the fifth and sixth meeting between the clubs this season. In three games played at Indianapolis the league-leading Redskins won two and lost one and in a single tilt played here on Wednesday the victory went to the Blues. That evens it up, two apiece. Yesterday's postponement was the 14th for the Tribesters this season.
predict tough sledding for the Indians on this western trip. Two key players have slipped in their batting, Wayne Blackburn, outfielder, and Eddie Morgan, first. sacker. A consistent .300 hitter in 1941 and 1942, Blackburn is down to .238, and Morgan, who started the season at a fast clip, has slumped to .247.
Vaughn Fails at Bat
Fred Vaughn, at second base, who has improved his fielding, is having, trouble sighting the ball at the plate and is swingihg and missing | too often to be a dependable. The. guess here is that when Mickey Haslin returns to the lineup at third, Eric McNair will displace Vaughn, or Carl Fairly will be switched frem short to second and McNair assigned to the shortfield. But Fairly also is a weak sister at the plate. Maybe Manager Ownie Bush's woes are just around the corner although he has faith in his mound staff to keep the Indians in the running. And don’t overlook the fact the Tribesters still are pacing the league.
“Jumping” Joe Savoldi has been signed to battle “Wild Bill” Longson, heavyweight champion, in a title match to top the outdoor wrestling show next Tuesday night at Sports Arena. The two powerful grappling gladiators will clash for two falls out of three in what is viewed as one of the best “treats” offered local mat fans in several seasons. Longson, a “meanie” style of mats man, will be facing one of the fastest wrestlers in the game when he encounters the former Notre Dame football star. It is a match that

Indianapolis’ District Golf association's annual 54-hole medal play championship will be held over the Hillcrest, Highland and Speedway links this year, according to Cliff Wagoner, secretary, Waggoner announced yesterday the tournament would be launched June 14 at Hillcrest, move to Highland June 15 and would finish at the -
Sreedway June 16. More than 60 entries have been received for the annual classic—an encouraging registration two weeks
but more than three or four times this number will have to be rounded up ‘to make the event an unqualified success. Wagoner’s organization has made a commendable start in attempting to carry on as usual, but the field will have to grow at a rapid clip if its aims are to. be achieved. Chief of these is its desire to present a sizable donation to the Red Cross at the conclusion of the tournament. Unless the entry list tops the 200
time and a bout that promoters in several -cities, including Cleveland, Detroit and St. Louis have been attempting to lineup. Savoldi, who is from Three Oaks, Mich., is expected to bring his highly touted “drop kick” offense into play against Longson. It has brought him victories over almost all of the top ranking heavyweights. Longson is from Salt Lake City. The second feature on the program will be a special semi-windup between 4li Pasha, bearded Hindu star, and ‘Billy Thom, head mat coach at Indiana university. Both are front line junior heavies.

Chalky Wright
Favored Over Terranova
NEW YORK, June 4 (U. P).— Chalky Wright, ancient Los Angeles Negro, is a 12-5 favorite to beat Phil Terranova, New York, in their 15-round “maybe” featherweight challengers’ bout at Madison Square Garden tonight. ‘This is a “maybe” challengers’ fight because maybe the winner will get a shot at the New York version of the title—and maybe he will not. The winner will get a chance at the crown if Wee Willie Pep happens to retain his diadem Tuesday night at Boston against Sal Bartolo, most dangerous opponent in the 126-pound division. But if Pep loses his laurels to Bartolo, what then? Then your crystal ball is as good as any, including the “Murky Sphere” used by the New York commission, which insisted upon tonight's bout.
Pep Weuld Get a Chance
If Bartolo beats Pep at Boston Tuesday night, a steel-meshed contract will force him to give Pep a chance at the crown again in Bartolo’s first defense. This seemingly would leave the Wright-Terranova winner holding the well-known satchel. However, the double-talking New
is not the case. It proclaims that the Boston bout is not a title fight —that whether Pep wins or loses against Bartolo, he still will be recognized as champion in New York state and that beaten Pep could defend against tonight's winner.
