MISS BALLARD'S RITES ARRANGED

Services to Be Held at 4 P.M. Tomorrow for Former Bookkeeper.

Funeral services for Miss Wilma A. Ballard will be held at 4 p. m. tomorrow at Shirley Brothers central chapel, 946 N. Illinois st. Burial ‘will be in Clermont cemetery.

Miss Ballard died Saturday at her

~home, 3241 Boulevard place. She was 71 and had lived here 42 years. She was employed as a, bookkeeper in the J. G. McCullough real estate office for 12 years, retiring in 4917. She was born in Clermont, . . Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Ella Small of Miami, Fla.; two nieces, Mrs. Lorene Lemmink and Mrs. Catherine Hamilton of Indianapolis, and a nephew, Streeter Ballard of Hornell, N, Y.

Mrs. Ola McAdams

Funeral services for Mrs. Ola McAdams, 73, of 39 E. Ninth st., will be at 8 p. m. tomorrow at the Shirley Brothers Central Chapel, 946 N. Illinois st. Cremation will follow. - Mrs. McAdams, who died /Baturday, was the widow of Capti Fred McAdams, Indianapolis, who\ was killed in France in world way 1. She was a member of the nd Church of Christ and had made her home here since 1922. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Eugenia M. Jerome, and a nephew, Wilfred C. Trabue, both of Indianapolis.

Calvin C. Clapp Fe Funeral services for Calvin C. Clapp, 79, retired drill press operator at the Big Four railroad shops, Beech Greve, will be at 4 p. m. tomorrow in Little &. Sons funeral home, Beech Grove, with burial in New Crown cemetery. He died yesterday in a nursing home at 604 N. Jefferson ave. after a two-year illness. Mr. Clapp was a native of Clark county, and attended the old United Brethren college of Hartsville. He retired nine years ago. Surviving are: Daughters, Mrs. Frank J. DRAIN SERVICES ARE TOMORROW

Burial for Ex-Commander

Of Legion Will Be in Arlington. -

Times Special

WASHINGTON, May 31,—Funeral services for James A. Drain, former national commander of the American Legion who died here yesterday, will be held at 2 p. m, tomorrow at St. Thomas Episcopal church. Burial will be in Arlington national cemetery. Mr. Drain died at the Mt. Alto veterans’ hospital. He was 72. He served as Legion commander in 1924-25, during which time the Legion’s junior nation-wide baseball competition was established. He laid the cornerstone for the Legion headquarters building in Ine. dianapolis while national commander.

Recent McNutt Aid

Mr. Drain recently had beén assistant to Administrator Paul V. McNutt of the Federal Security agency. During world war I he served as a colonel and expert on ordnance, sitting with British officers as a member of the first tank commission. He was ordnance officer of the first division and received the distinguished service medal, the French legion of honor and the cross of Italy. * He lost his left arm in a hunting accident prior to world war Iland was the only man with one arm admitted into the army. While Legion eommander, the organization's $5,000,000 endowment fund for disabled veterans and veterans’ children was established.

Lived in Indianapolis

In 1934 and 1935 he held the office of Legion national judge advocate and treasurer, and lived in Indianapolis. Born in Illinois, Mr. Drain lived most of his life in Spokane, Wash., and was adjutant general of the state’s national guard. During that time, he helped draff the legislation that permitted the national guard to be called out as part of the regular army for world war I. ~ Survivors include his wife, a son, James A. Drain Jr., Michigan City, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Edward M. Hay, Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Frederick VanDen Arend, Washington, and Mrs. Kate D. Lawson, Hol-

church, and former pastor of the Forest Manor and Morris Street Methodist churches. He was a native of Indianapolis and was graduated from Shortridge high school. He also was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan university and received his bachelor of theology and M. A. degrees from the Boston Theological Seminary where he was graduated magna cum Yaude. The Rev. Mr. Dove's first pastorate was at Mt. Auburn Methodist church, Shelby county. He then went to Forest Manor, Morris Street, Batesville Methodist and Waldron Methodist, | finally going to the church at Liberty about two years ago. : - Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Winter Dove; sons, Rolland Lee Jr. and James Robert, Liberty; sister, Mrs. Menzies V. Stevenson, Indianapolis; nices, Mgs. Donald M. Jordan and Miss Mary Elizabeth Stevenson, Indianapolis. ! Funeral services will be at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday in the lrvington Methodist church, the Rev. R. O. Pearson, superintendent of the Rushville district, Indiana Methodist conference; the Rev. Albert H. Rumley, Brownsville, and the Rev. Clarence A. Shake, Irvington church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery.

Angelo Codarmaz

Funeral services for Angelo Codarmaz, 1140 Winfield ave., “who died Friday, were held today at Holy Trinity church of which he was a member. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mr. Codarmaz, 66, was born in Italy and came to Indianapolis 36 years ago. He formerly was employed by the Sheehan Construction Co. and was a member of the International Hod Carriers’ union, local 120. He was & member of the Holy Name society. He is survived by his wife, Regina; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Mauser, Indianapolis, and Mrs. William Russell, living in North Carolina; a son, Anthony, in the navy; three brothers, Andrew of Cleveland, Joseph of Indianapolis, and Anton in Italy; a sister, Teresa in Italy and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruth Gieseking

Mrs. Ruth Gieseking, who died Saturday at her home, 1619 N. New Jersey st. will be buried in South Park Memorial cemetery in Greensburg following funeral services at 1 p. m. today in the George W. Usher chapel. Mrs. Gieseking had been. in poor health for four years. She was born in Westport and came to Indianapolis about 25 years ago. She had operated several furnished apartment buildings here. . She is survived by her husband, Alex; a son, Roland M. Boughton, Indianapolis; her mother, Mrs. Laura Robbins, of .Batesville; a sister, Mrs. Loretta Blake, a brother, Paul Ferdinand; two half-sisters, Miss Mary Louise Walterman and Miss June Meredith, of Batesville; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Betty M. Boughton; a grandson, Roland Henry Boughton, and a granddaughter, Mary Jo Boughton.

Livingston Haines Funeral services and burial for Livingston Haines will be held Wednesday in Rockport. The body is now at the Flanner and Buchanan mortuary. A retired carpenter, Mr. Haines died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ear] ‘W. Rich, 5947 Indianola ave. He was 73 and had been ill about two months. Born in Rockport, Mr. Haines lived in Lake Hamilton, Fla. for 20 years, moving here two years ago. Survivors, \ in addition to his daughter, area son, Earl W. Haines: a grandson, Earl W. Rich Jr., and a granddaughter, Mrs. William J. Begley.

Dr. Ray A. Bowman Dr. Ray A. Bowman, 46, coroner of Elkhart county and veteran’ of world war I, died last night in Elkhart after a six-month illness, according to word received here by his relatives. He was a graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine and practiced in Elkhart for the past 14 years, Surviving are the widow, Corinne Leedy Bowman; daughter, Sally, Elkhart; father, Milo Bowman, Somerset; sister, Mrs. Louis Sandoz, South Bend; sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles W. Alkire, Indianapolis.

LEON "HECHT IS DEAD: FOUNDED AD AGENCY

Leon Hecht, 4353 Park ave., died today after a long illness. He was born in Philadelphia in 1875 and had lived in Indianapolis 32 years. A pioneer in electrical advertising, he founded the Smith & Hecht advertising agency and with its dissolution founded the Leon Hecht advertising agency. He is survived by his wife, Hilda; a daughter, Mrs. Charles S. Kaufman of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Max Drelish, Ardmore, Pa., and Mrs. Mamie Bearinit, Philadelphia, and one grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at the Aaron-Ruben funeral home at 2 p. m, Wednesday by Rabbi Morris Feuerlicht and Rabbi Maurice Goldblatt. Burial will be in the Indianapolis Hebrew cemetery.
