TORONTO, May 28 (U. Era] torpedo almost struck a troopship carying Canadian fighting men from Jamaica to New Orleans, Lt. Col. I. M. R. Sinclair, officer com-

regiment, said today. The Argyll and Sutherland, made up of 800 men, have arrived

service in Jamaica. The troopship carrying them home was 300 miles west of Jamaica when the attack occurred. It was at night. “Suddenly,” he said, “some other officers and myself saw a torpedo coming in our direction. It missed by about 50 yards.”
