‘COX CENSUS RULING DUE ON WEDNESDAY

Judge Earl R. Cox of circuit court will rule Wednesday on the constitutionality of the law that repe township assessors to enumFeruies all male citizens over 21 years

Fri 5 hearing on’ the question recently, : Judge Cox. indicated he thought the. law was unconstitional because it failed to provide for the enumeration of women, too." The law originally was designed

4- to provide the basis for reappor- ' tionment of representatives in tne

legislature. “A voters’ enumeration law that does not include women is useless,” Judge Cox said.

‘TRAP’ CHARGE SEEN IN BANDITRY TRIAL

The trial of two men on charges of banditry in a case that may involve charges of police entrapment was started before a jury in criminal court today. Edward Ryan, defense attorney, said he will present evidence to show that a third man involved in the case was never arrested. Those on trial are James Rose,|M 23, and Oscar Schwartz, 23, who are charged with holding up the City Ice Cream Co., 3137 E. 10th st., last Aug. 16. : A fourth man involved in the alleged crime was shot and killed by police during the melee when police ~gurprised’ the bandits as they were

Kestaging the holdup.
