They are: 1. “Novice”—Beginner with garden space less than 1500 square feet. 2, “Pioneer”—beginner with garden space 1500 square feet or more. 3. “Proficient”—Others with garden space less than 1500 square feet. 4. “Veteran”—Others with garden space 1500 square feet or more. (A beginner is defined as a person who has never previously had a garden.) All three phases of the contest are open to any person with a garden in Marion county excepting members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and their immediate families and persons who garden professionally. In addition to Mr. Kuerst and Mr. Mendenhall, the Jaycee contest committee includes Lyman G. Hunter, public ty; A. A. Irwin, rules, and Royer K. Brown, awards. Also, J. Lowell Craig, Harry F. Miedema Jr., Jack Millar, Richard J. Layton, Frank B, Parrish, Donald Keller, Alan Goldstein and = Emsley W. Johnson Jr. Watch for contest entry blanks in The Indianapols Times Monday.
