Law Applies to Members: Now .in Office.
Attorney General James Emmert today clarified three laws passed by the recent legislature in opinions sent to Otto’ K. Jensen, chief examiner of the state accounts board. In one he held that the new law providing that members of township advisory boards shall be paid
at the rate of $5 a meeting applies
to board members now in ‘office. The law specifies that members may not draw more than $25 in any one year. He also ruled that the Jaw permitting township trustees to draw per diem for duties as township assessors also pertains to the trustees now in office. This law pertains to townships having popula-
tions of. 5000 or less, and specifies
that. the amounts the trustees may
exceed $325 annually, ; ~ In another opinion on fees paid sheriffs Jor transporting prisoners the attorney general held that for transporting & fugitive within the state the sheriff should get the same fees as he receives for taking a prisoner to the state prison. The fees to be received for transporting a fugitive from outside the state are fixed by a 1923 law, the attorney
‘general said. :
