“Frankenstein Meets he Wolf Man.” - You get two horrors for the price of one plus-Ilona Massey in a nightie.” With the monster (Bela Lugosi) and the wolf man (Lon Chaney) accounted for, ‘we are
of our old terrors, King Kong, Dracula, the Invisible Man and the cat people. Just the other day, we learned
which scared me out of my ten=
mighty 12-part serials, is coming back in modern dress. But we haven’t heard boo from Fu Manchu. Not a line, Even the mummies gre mum. As the scene opens, we find the wolf man out wolfing under a full moon. He has just returned from the grave. After committing a round. of foul murders, he tells a psychologist. (Patrick Knowles) he didn’t mean it, it was the hex the gypsies put on him. Naturally, nobody believes he is the wolf man but Universal studios. So the wolf man travels to the Graustarkian village which Frankenstein’s monster used to terrorize and takes up where; monster left off. Actually,‘ the wolf man is searching for the secret of life as recorded in the diary of the late Dr. Frankenstein yvho started this horror se= ries ‘back in 1932.

IN CASE you missed the last one, Universal reminds you that the Frankenstein castle burned
down. Prowling through the fuins, the wolf man discovers the monster frozen in ice. Which is as good a place as any .for Universal to keep him during the off season. . Without a word to the OPA or anybody, the wolf man unfreezes the monster and the dismal duo hunt for the diary. No luck. Finally, Tlona Massey, Dr. Frankenstein’s grand daughter, discovers it in a secret passage under a secret passage. Well, the psychologist arrives and tries to electrocute the scary pair, but it only rejuvenates them and the monster attacks the wolf man for moving into his territory. During the battle scene, the villagers, tired of the whole silly business, dynamite the dam. The waters rush down inundating the castle and its occult Sesupani:
A watery graveils indicated.
] Frankenstein's ‘monster was dead, eh? ‘the fire the last time, did you? Just as you probably figured the Sime before that when they buried him under the mountain and poured cement over him, it was for keeps, huh? Well, he’s back in business at’the Lyric this week and this time he brought along a friend, the wolf man. ‘The gruesome twosome star in

But if fire couldn’t kill ‘em, if being buried alive under a mountain couldn’t keep ‘em quiet and if electrocution only pepped them up, what could a measly flood be expected to accomplish? Back on ice again, Frankenstein will probably return. Next time, I'd like to see a different casting, just for a change. Let's have Mickey Rooney do the ‘part and call it “Frankenstein ‘Meets His Draft Board,” with. - Errol Flynn as the wolf man: ‘This . time, they can dig up. Mary. ‘Astor’s diary. 3
