B. Oscars, Goodrich Silvertown stores; and Orten W. Sollie, Commercial Tire Service. Citizen members of the committee are Samuel C. Two Indiana men have won advancement in rating for outstanding

performance against . the enemy, the navy .~department sunoynsed today. James Curtis Voorhees, Zon of Mrs. Sarah Clark, 1624 Williams st., was commended and advanced, posthumously, to the rating of seaman first class for exceptional courage and fortitude when wounded. Despite the fact he was ‘| seriously injured in action against the enemy in the Atlantic, he went to his battle station and assisted in firing the gun. He died Sept, 8, 1942. : John Stearns - Bender, yeoman second class, son of John Bender, Anderson, was advanced to the |next higher rating for performance of duty during surface action against Japanese warships Nov. 30Dec. 1. :

6900 PHYSICIANS FACING ARMY CALL

CHICAGO, March 11 (U.P).— The army plans to commission ap-

3000 hospital internes and residents this year, the American Medical association announced today.

which also disclosed that the army expects to commission 4800 dentists and 900 veterinarians in 1943.
