foreign affairs committee predicted The committee, which has recommended extension of the lend-lease act, learned about the latest thing in midget meals for full-grown folks from Lend|Lease Administrator Edward R. Stettinius Jr. First he showed them one dozen eggs, dehydrated. They were in a box the size of two packs of cigarets. Then he exhibited the vestpocket omelet—four dehydrated eggs compressed into a block smaller than a box of safety matches. “Makes a meal to feed four people,” Mr. Stettinius said. Rep. Karl Mundt (R. S. D) showed the committee three tiny cubes, each about an inch and a half square, and half an inch thick. Each cube, he said, represented one pound of| the fresh food. There were cranberries, carrots and onions. Mr, Stettinius displayed a tiny jar of granulated beef, which he said equalled eight pounds of fresh meat, and “makes a fine hamburger.” Rep. Mundt said compression was more desirable than dehydration pecause of a tendency of dehydrated focds to crumble to powder. Mr. Stettinius also revealed that lend-lease| has developed a special canned stew for Russia. “It can be eaten hot or cold, and is seasoned to Russian taste,” he said. | Meanwhile, the food dehydration section of the quartermaster corps was demonstrating to reporters some of | the tremendous strides made in dehydrating and compressing food for the army. LONDON, Feb. 25 (U, P.).—Allied sources said today that Adolf ‘Hitler’s Nazi party proclamation indicated he intends to raise conscript armies in France and other occupied countries and will massacre
81a who oppose.
Evidence that the huge losses suffered by Germany and her satellites in Russia have forced Hitler to take the dangerous step of arming the men of the nations he has conquered was seen in this refer-
il ence in the proclamation:

the occupied countries that he would tolerate no opposition to the Nazi rule. He called upon the party to “pour energy into the weak, destroy ruthlessly all saboteurs, meet terrorism with ten times greater terrorism and exterminate traitors regardless of who they might be or under what guise they try to put .into effect their treacherous devices.” The purging of all opposition te Nazi rule, Hitler said, was to be the party’s “second historic mission.” Hitler once more attributed the war to the “Jews” and said: “Because the Jews in London, New York and Moscow have clearly stated what would be the destiny of the German people in case of their victory, we are decided to give them equally clear answer, “This fight will not end, as they intended, with destruction of Aryan mankind, but with the extermination of Jewry in this Europe.” Hitler said he was prevented from attending the party celebration by his duties at the Russian front. “There (on the eastern front),” he said, “will be decided the future of Germany and beyond that, the future of Europe.”
