Deny Plan Is Hoover's

In a prepared statement, signers “of the plan pointed out that this|} scheme is essentially the same as

& that functioning in Greece with full approval of the allied governments. The churchmen’s appeal followed & publication in several national mag- ° azines last week of articles by former President Herbert Hoover urg- * ing support of a similar plan to feed = the whole population of conquered lands. A bill was introduced in con- ¢ gress this week to put that program ~~ into effect. Ee: The statement pointed out, how- © ever, that “the signers explicitly disassociate themselves from former President Hoover's various © feeding schemes and from the agi= tation of pacifist and isolationist groups.”

Signers Represent Selves Only

They declared that supplies are + available, that money is at hand for = the purchase of a ship, that a ship » is ready and that the scheme would + become operative only-on the uncon- _ ditional agreement of axis powers i. to conditions and safeguards. iden- ;. tical with those functioning with re- = gard to relief to Greece.
