DEAR JANE JORDAN—When I was 12 years old my mother died. Since that time Dad and I have lived with my grandparents. Dad thinks . that-since my grandmother is a woman she knows what I should do and not do. However, she is rather old-fashioned in her ideas. I am 16 now and I'm not allowed to go to other girls’ homes or to have young people at my house. I am not allowed to go to town or the show with a group, to write to fellows in service or to have dates. I'll never have any friends at this rate. One day I told my grandmother I was going to a neighborhood show with my girl friend. Instead, we went to town. That preyed on my conscience so badly that I didn’t do it again. well as plentiful supply. So each meal, if possible, and certainly one meal every day, should contain food that supplies the B's. In the kitchen, remember that heat destroys some of the B vitamin value: of foods, so toast the bread lightly and cook the vegetables as short a time as possible. When foods are reheated they lose still more B vitamins, even though they may retain other food values. This] means that when reheated food is served, a fresh source of B vitamins should be added to the meal. Be sure to rescue the B vitamins that get into cooking water by saving the liquid to serve with vegetables or in sauces and gravies.

Making Raincoats Last for Duration
You'll want your rubber raincoat to last for the duration. Upkeep is simple—just cleanliness, and adherence to the rule that rubberized garments should be kept away from excessive light and direct heat. Remove mud splashes and other soil immediately after the garment is taken off. Wash spots with a cloth that has been wrung out of cool, sudsy water, and rinse well with a damp clean cloth. When smooth and dry, hang away on & wooden coat hanger. :

HOME FRONT FORECAST

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19.—Spring must be close at hand, because OPA’s experts have started to work in earnest on plans to ration milk, butter, cheese and other dairy products. Time to start rationing, the experts say, is when supplies are plentiful. They are just waiting until the meadows are lush and green and the cows are bountiful before starting to ration dairy products. ’ Canned milk, cheese and butter are almost certain to go on the restricted sales list. But the OPA men don’t know what to do about ak ; fluid milk. Virtually each milk shed has its own peculiar milk supply problems. ‘THE ARMY quartermaster has discovered a new method of moving tremendous supplies of butter to our troops overseas. First he developed a butter which wouldn't melt or turn rancid below 120 degrees. But it was just as bulky as an ordinary pound of butter, And you couldn’t dent it with a pick ax in sub-zero temperature.
