James Edward Adams, a motorcar mechanic for the Pennsylvania railroad 20 years, died yesterday at his home, 4810 E. New York st. after a short illness. He was 61. Born in Rush county, he .came here when a boy. He was a member of the Marion county fish and game association, the Indianapolis casting club and the West Indianapolis lodge 669, F. & A. M. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Edna Adams; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Kitchell of Boston in Wayne county; a brother, George C. Addis of near Rushville, and a sister, Mrs. Walter Headlee of near Morristown. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday at the Shirley Brothers Irving Hill ‘chapel. Burial will be in Washington Park.

2 MITCHELLS LOSE POOLROOM PERMITS

Licenses of two Indiana avenue poolrooms, ‘one’ aperated by Joe Mitchell, and -another by::Isaac (Tuffie) Mitchell, his ‘brother; were revoked by the safety board today. Police Chief Clifford Beeker, in recommending the revocations. said Joe Mitchell, proprietor of a poolroom at 408 Indiana ave. had been sentenced recently to six months and fined $100 on charges of operating a gaming house. Chief Beeker added that Isaac Mitchell, whose place at 248 Indiana ave., had been arrested Jan. 30 on a ‘charge of keeping a room for pool selling and

HOOSIER HERO DIES IN AFRICAN FIGHTING

decorations for bravery, was killed in action on the African front, according to a statement made here today by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund H. Miller said they received a telegram reporting their son’s death from Adjt. Gen. Ulio, of the war department. The message said Capt. Millier died Jan. 22. Capt.
