Hours a Day Schedules Must Be Maintained.
Beginning: today, Indiana filling stations will operate on one of two schedules: : 1. The station may stay open-not|§ more than 72 hours a week and for not more than 12 hours a day; or
2. The station must stay open 24 hours a day for seven days a week. The order was announced by Petroleum Administrator Harold L. Ickes. ; Maximum Service Is Good _ The 24-hour-a-day alternative will permit “truck stations” to serve common carrier trucks and other “T" card holders. Continuous operation is required in order to get maximum service from-the stations, Provisions of the order are as follows: If a dealer elects to operate for 72 hours a week, he must serve all customers for no more than a total of 12 hours in any one day. The 12 hours may not be divided into units
A Note o 4 Russian Tiagady.
IN RE the Indianapolis symphony orchestra's program of all Russian music tonight and tomorrow p. m., our Murat theater correspondent writes us a note concerning Russian drama. There must be 8 connection. ~~ Anyway, when he was here last, Abram Chasins, the pianist, ‘told. Fabien Sevitzky the story of the American in Moscow who was taken to see a Russian comedy. The American kept mum all the way, but by the time the last - act: ended, he couldn't restrain himself. All the characters in the play had died, violently, in various ways by the time the final curtain fell, “Is this what you call comedy?” he demanded. He was assured it was comedy, definitely, of the best. “I don’t get it,” he protested. “If that’s comedy, what's different about a Russian tragedy?” “Ho ho!” he was informed, “you don’t know our’ drama. In tragedy, everybody just dies.” Our correspondent suggests that * the all-Russian program, which incl eight folk songs, may provide some insight into the char-
met and merged talents and lives in Berlin where they studied under Arthur Schnabel. They have been touring the United States for six years and appeared here under Town Hall auspizes in 1937,
