ENROLLMENT DROP IS NOT ALARMING
Times Special LAFAYETTE, Ind. Jan. 8.—Although 500 to 600 fewer students registered at Purdue university for the "second term, this drop was much less than officials anticipated, PF. C. Hockgma, assistant - to : the pregjdent, sald today. Registration early this week stood at 5037 as compared with 5691-at the same time last year. Total registration for the term is -expected to be somewhere between 5500 and 6000, as several hundred students are still in the process of registering and 115 “engineering cadets” will enroll Feb, 1 for a special course. The number of men registered totalled 3932 against 4529 last year. Women this year number -1105 as compared with 1162 last: year. The number of new students registering was 342, about three times the usual number of midyear entrants.
