the innovations would be. However, a competent source disclosed that it was a “pretty good hunch” that one of Landis’ proposals would be to reduce the number of players taken on trips. This would be dome, it was indicated, without disturbing the 25-player limit. The clubs still would maintain 25 players, but would leave five or more men behind. Each player also would have to carry his own equipment, Still another reliabie informant said that “something even more drastic” .was on the agenda toe be placed before big league men. He declined comment, however, when it was suggested the “drastic” proposal might include. reducing east-west. trips to two, trimming the schedule from.154 games to 140 or

isetting up eastern and western di-

visions so-that eastern clubs weuld play only each other and western clubs do likewise. Reduction of players seemed the first and most likely move since it drew the indorsement of Clark C. Griffith, president of the Washington Senators, and Eastman said that traveling space was the prime problem. Griffith said he was in favor of “making it a definite policy to leave

on short trips.” “Even one additional passenger would increase the strain en roliing stock already taxed to the limits of its capacity,” Eastman said.. Clubs iid have arranged to

Chapman and Trickéy give the Hawks a pair of the conference's best scorers, but Harrison's .other material is extremely inexperienced. * Chapman scored 185 points in 15 conference contests last season. His total broke the league record formerly held by Jewell Young of Purdue, -but was far short of the mark of 243 points Wisconsin's Johnny Kotz established during the campaign. Trickey garnered 101 points in league play. ‘O'Brien saw limited service and scored but two points last season. He is 6-foot-5 and has showed improved form in early season contests, but still must prove his ability in conference competition. Although not holding down a regular job, the outstanding on the squad is Bob Lundstedt, a 6-foot-1 forward who has substituted for both Telekey and Chapman.
