_ Service Men To Be Dined
Special Program Arranged At Roberts Park
Roberts Park Methodist church and the service men's center will give a dinner tomorrow, following worship, for service men. At 2:30 * in the afternoon, the chancel choir * will present a cancert. Special recognition will be given at the dinner to young men of the congregation about to be inducted inte service. Among them are Louis LeVier and Robert Johnston. Frank 8, Watkins, minister of music, is in * charge of the concert and Dr. 8. L. Martin, paster, will pronounce the invocation and benediction, - Among the numbers scheduled ‘ for the musical “program are “Let Us Go Even “Unte Bethlehem,” by - Kriens, sung by the women’s chair; “The Shepherds’ Story,” by Dickin- - son, sung by soloists and the chair; and Reger's “The Virgin's Slumbep Song," by Mrs, Marjorie Payne Breeden. Churches Follow F.D.R. Suggestion
: In accordance with President Roosevelt's request that New Year's be observed as a Day of Prayer, the church federation has ~ sent out a bulletin to the churches. "It offers suggestions for marking the day and alse the annual week of prayer which begins next Sunday, Jan. 3. The bulletin was written by the committee on religious werk and Dr. C. A. McPheeters, chairman, - Churches are urged to organize vigils from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. New Year's and whether they held formal services or not to ask everybody to pray privately for the nation, our leaders, the men in uniorm and for our enemies. —————————————

Cards of invitation have been mailed te surrounding towns and it is hoped peeple will reply telling how much they enjoyed the spiritual experience of the communion. The broadeasting station has expressed thanks te the Meihonish church for setting an example in the New. Year's eve celebration which is in sharp contrast to the usual revelry of the last night of the year.
Rose Croix to Honor Dead Rite Cathedral

The Indianpolis chapter of Rose Croix, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, will hold its annual St. John’s day religious vespers tomorrow at 4:30 p. m. in thé Scottish Rite cathedral. The service is three-fold, combining with the St. John's day service, a memorial program honoring members who have died during the year and the Indianapelis Cathedral hour. the Matinee Musicale in seven legion: Dr. W. A. $hullenberger will ak on “Our Times Need a Savior,” and Dr. Sidney Blair Harry will give the invocation. The Cathedral hour was inaugurated during Mr, Springer's term as an officer. It started with an attendance of 200 which has new increased to 800. Since the Rase Croix is primarily religious, the Cathedral hour is a spiritual gift to the city. This will be the last St. John's day arranged by Mr. Springer, who retires from office in the spring.

It was an impressive sight last night when Charles was ushered into the synagog by boys whe previously, this year, became Bar Mitavah. The ritual of the service, inaugurated by Rabbi Israel Chodos and presentéd for the second time last night, was followed by a reception in the vestry rooms. Cantor Myro Glass presented the music.

Beginning with a 6:30 p. m. dinner served Thursday by the weman's society of Christian service, the Central Avenue Methodist church will proceed with entertainment and worship until the old year passes. There will be a program of magic and surprise followed by music directed by Ralph Wright, Master Sergeant Roger Kueiniky of Sioux City, Iowa, concert violinist, will play; Miss Marian Laut and Miss Louise Swan will present selections on two pianos, and Miss Alvina Palmquist and the central singers will give vocal humbers. Kenneth M, Kunkel, state OPA rationing officer, today urged auto owners seeking renewals of their applications for supplemental gasoline to apply to their local war price and rationing boards during the first five days ‘of the renewal period.
