Deputy Coroner Conducts Inquiry in Death of Vernon Preble.
Vernon Preble, 16-year-old Speed- | way City high school pupil, died at City “hospital early today from a! bullet wound in his back, He _ was shot early yesterday by Robert Clegg, 1724 Allison st., when the latter said he found the youth looking info a window of the Clegg home. Mr. Clegg said he was warned by a neighbor that a prowler was at his window and that he got his revolver and went.out a rear door. He said he saw a man looking in his window and ordered him to halt when he started to run. He fired at the fleeing youth as he kept running, the bullet striking him. in the back. Deputy Coroner Hubert Collins began an investigation of the shooting. Mr. Clegg is not being held. The: youth is the son of Mr. and

EDWARD P. EGAN FUNERAL SATURDAY
Edward P. Egan, a manufacturer of burial vaults, died yesterday in a private hospital after a long illness. He was 68 and lived at 4701 8S. Meridian st. Mr. Egan was a native of Indianapalis. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph P. Harmon, and a son, Erwin D. Egan, both of Indianapolis. Services will be at 8:30 a. m. Saturday at the Kirby mortuary and at 9 a. m. at St. Roch’s Catholic church. Burial will be in Holy Cross.

Indianapolis Resident for 52 Years!Was Active in Lodge Circles.
Mrs. Ora Beelle Strahl, 2548 B. Emerson ave., died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Rothhass, 1532 Churchman ave., as a result of injuries received when she fell on the ice near her home Saturday night. She was 74. : An Indianapolis resident 52 years, Mrs. Strahl formerly was a practical nurse. Her husband, Oliver Morton Strahl, died in 1926. She] factors was born in Hancock county. Mrs. Strahl was a member of Queen Esther chapter 3, O. E. S8.; the Women’s Benefit association. and the Woodruff Place Baptist church. Survivors, besides Mrs. Rothhaas, are three sons, Walter, Clarence and Clifford Strahl of Indianapolis: a brother, William Deery of Cleveland, O., and two sisters, Mrs. Inez Herren of Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. Jessie Miller of Portland, "Ore. The body was taken to the Shirley Brothers Irving Hill chapel.
