In This Our Hour of Trial
T this particular time of the year if behooves us all fo, pause and do a little rious thinking. It was just 1941 years ago that Jesus Christ the only son of G od was born in a manger at Bethlehem. He lived a most useful life teaching the werd of God and for his efforts he was crucified at the age of 33 by his enemies . . . uni elievers. At. Mt. Calvary Christ suffered and died on the cross in order fo scve “mankind . . . a great sacrifice, but one that has proven worth while down through : be ages. We celebrate Christmas as the anniversary of His birth and this year more ‘than ever as a reminder of the principles for which He suffered and died.

To ODAY the eonls of this nation, as well as many aera after atie mpling fo teach the principles of religious freedom and democracy are confron ed with suffering . and death in order to preserve for all mankind the better way of !ife. Millions of our men in our armed forces will be called upon to undergo suffer. ng and many will sacrifice even their lives in order that the freedoms will survive f:- future generations. It will be no easy task + conquer those who. would enslave 1s and take away our freedoms, but ‘right is might’ and in the end peace will preve |. Even as Christ ~ worked, suffered and died for His beliefs so too must the people of today's world who believe in Christianity and the principles of democracy.
[ AR is an ugly word, but it is an even more uly experience for those on the field and sea of battle. For them we af hom: have a job to do—a.big job— one that calls for sacrifice. Our soldiers, sailors anc marines are doing their job efficiently, vigorously and without complaint. Are we doing ours? Are we buying all the war bonds we possibly can, are we participating +o our fullest in ‘metal; rubber “and blood drives, are we materially reducing our cc nsumption. of meat, sugar, gasoline, coffee? Of one thing we can be sure—the MORE we do to help the sooner this war will be over which means the less sacrifice ve will ask our armed forces to make. Wake up, Americans—do your share—don't Ic ave it up to the other fellow—
let's get this war over with and return peace and happ. ness to the Becpyes of the world. / \
