“AMERICA’S TYPICAL Navy Mother,” Mrs. Irene Shafer of Glendale, Cal, will be featured on the sailors’ own “Meet Your Navy” broadcast at 9 p. m. tomorrow on WISH. Mrs, Shafer, mother-of two navy boys, was named “typical navy mother, by Mrs. Helen Joyce, president of the Chicago Navy Mothers’ club, and Sheldon Clark, president of the Navy League .of the U. 8.” - She received an all-expense trip to the Great Lakes naval training station at Great Lakes, Ill, and has spent a week there. In tonight's broadcast, Mrs. Shafer will ‘report her observations to other navy mothers. She is a finance officer in the Glendale
chairman on Navy day, when she organized the program which resulted in sale of $115,000 in bonds and stamps. Her husband is an army engineer.
ELMER DAVIS, dirketor of the office of war information, said today that he may return to the air to make either weekly or periodic news broadcasts. - Onetime commentator for CBS, he conceded that he might be in competition with former colleagues. He agreed that because of his| OWI position he would be in a more advantageous position in presenting news analyses than those in|. private life, because his views would be guided by confidential information not available to them. Likewise, he said, there was danger|
that he would be regarded as al
government propagandist. He said that is a chance he would have to
Navy Mothers’ club and was bond
take if he returns to the air.
