ORDER IS IGNORED
NEW ORLEANS, Nov, 27 (U. P). —Andrew Jackson Higgins Sr., boat builder and potential airplane manJ ufacturer, yesterday, charged the U. S. maritime commission with disregarding presidential instructions to facilitate construction of hundreds of cargo airplanes. Eight or nine weeks ago, Higgins recalled, President Roosevelt issued a directive to the commission and other governmental ‘departments to utilize the site of Higgins’ abandoned liberty shipyard. Last July the commission can-
iceled his contract for 200 liberty
cargo ships and halted work on the shipyard which Higgins now plans to convert into a mammoth airplane

One of the ‘most interesting signs of this re‘ised opinion has been the striking ‘change in the censors’ policy, allowing the Finnish press: to voice the = "deep impression made on the country by North African events. . A few isolated voices have expressed concern as to the effect that the opening of the North African front will have on the Russian campaign. 8 "The great majority have not conecealed their admiration for the allied initiative and the turning point in the war it has brought about.
Praise Democracy Highly
. Another immediate effect of the allied successes has been the absolute flood of declarations on the part of the Finnish political press concerning Finland's war aims. Finland's only concern, they have all stressed, is to defend the free- . dom of democratic institutions. Never before has Finland, the ally of totalitarian Germany, sung so loudly and defiantly the praises of democracy. + The most interesting reaction of the Finns these days is the sudden discovery of a strong feeling of solidarity with their Scandinavian neighbors. A short while ago the Finnish press was making repeated bitter

ANT TO START the day with a ile instead of a frown? Then n't let your stomach go sour during the night because your dinner disagreed with you—or you overindulged at a gay party. Take Phillips’ Milk of Magnesia at bedtime. It does more than merely neutralize excess stomach acidity—it finishes the job by acting as a very gentle laxative. Helps you to wake up “feeling like a million.” Read the directions on package and take as directed thereon or as prescribed by your physician.

This journal strongly advocated immediate preparations for such a union.

A free northern union would naturally completely upset the Nazi Plan for the greater German union, and its sponsorship by an axis “ally,” therefore, is most enlightening.
