JAPANESE ON DEC. 7
, BIRMINGHAM, Als, Nov. 19 (0. P.).—Dr. L. E. Barton, Baptist tem-
yesterday that drinking among American officers and men at Pearl Harbor contributed largely to the success: of the Japanese attack. Reporting to a state convention of Alabama Baptists, he the Japs knew that “Saturday and‘Sunday were the big drinking days at Pearl Harbor.” He asserted American forces were not on the alert because “there was drunkenness among both officers and men.” The Baptists passed a resolution
on the liquor question after adopting a social service report which charged that “liquor is protected by the president and secretaries of war and navy and feared by congress.”
