: The gremlins are old stuff to the radio folk who have long been plagued with grohms, radio cousins of the air force gremlins. The radio grohms closely resemble the air force gremlins except that the grohms have tiny lightning bolts protruding from their foreheads, like miniature horns, and they are bright green in color. There are several different kinds of grohms and they practice division of labor and specialization of effort in the best tradition of modern industry. For instance, actors are principally annoyed by! flucues, grohms who grab a cue right off a director’s rtp and fly around the studio with it until it’s too late for the Ss fo use it, thereby causing awkward pauses, overlapping of music Fern Parsons, of the cast of “Help- :

dialog and other misfortunes. ” says that flucues also switch pages of the script after the starts,
ust _as troublesome are the fluffSs, invisible little grohms who mb up on the microphone and “pebbles into the actor’s mouth, g-him to fluff his lines. Equalbothersome are the smudgets, ho blurr the type on the scripts. Eileen Palmer,” youthful NBC acZess who has roles in two daytime : , “Lone Journey” and “Lonely “Women,” knows all about hurrykins and foglees. Hurrykins she gays, are over-anxious grohms who make an actor jump the gun and start reading lines before the previous speaker has finished. Foglees, according to Miss Palmer, are little A le ~who dart about the room with invisible fog generators which use hoarseness just as the pro-
Actors, however, aren't the only ones plagued by grohms. Here's
“Among the most annoying types of- grohms in our department are ‘the squirtlies, dribblies, locksniffs
of sound effects doors that are supposed to squeak. Dribblies take - showers in the rain machine and locksniffs carry big keys and lock

The shiffles are cunning little tykes ‘who change the labels on sound effects records so that the record plays the song of a chickadee at the: instant the script calls for an automobile crash.” Musicians and conductors have their troubles, too.
