Derastus Harvey Morton died yesterday at the home of a son, Ernest Morton, 241 E. Minnesota st. He was 81.

7000 AMERICANS LANDED IN EGYPT

CAIRO, Nov. 5 (U. P.).—Seven thousand American reinforcements for the allied North, African offensive were encamped today, losing their sea legs after a tiring, unevenful voyage from - a United States east coast port on a former trans-Atlantic liner. The contingent, including several Negro units and the first American army nurses to arrive in the Middle East, disembarked Sunday night at a Red Sea port. They were headed by Lieut. Col. John E, Baird of Philadelphia, who will assume a post in the command of Maj. Gen. Russell IL, Maxwell, commander of American forces in the Middle East. Ten hours after they had disembarked in a blackout all of the soldiers had reached transit camps.
