Death Ends Woman's 3-Year Pose as Male Farm Hand

ALTOONA, Pa., Nov. 4 (U. P.).— The male hand on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Stonebraker of Tyrone was revealed today as a woman.

For three years, Robert Moore, 27, posed as a man working on the farm, and it was. not until her death that it was learned Moore was a woman. Injured in a fall in a barn a week ago, she was taken to Altoona hospital and placed in the men’s ward. When it was discovered the patient was a woman, a screen was placed around her because she was in too critical a condition to be moved. She died Sunday. Respecting her wishes that the masquerade would not be exposed, the hospital did not reveal her sex. But the funeral director discovered

the hoax and the filing of the death certificate gave her secret away. Stonebraker never suspected that his farm hand was a woman, as she wore men’s clothes and did a man’s job. It is believed she may have posed as a man in order to gain employment. A brunet, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds, she had hidden her past and noth-

ing was known about her prior to].

coming to the Stonebraker farm. She was buried in - Bald Eagle cemetery yesterday.
