HEAVY VOTE URGED BY WOMEN'S LEAGUE

WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 (U. P.). —Miss Marguerite Wells, president |3 of the National League of Women |§ Voters, today called for a large turnout at the polls in the Novembes elections to choose a “better- congress than ever before to meet the needs of a greater country faced with bigger problems.” Miss Wells told a press conference she expected “a larger vote ‘than many do” despite the increased number of women now doing war work and thus hampered in voting. | & “Now more than ever before it is the opportunity and privilege for |= women to use their vote,” she said. «It is also their duty to foliow the problems of their congressmen after they get in office.” | Many congressmen now vote on measures against their own dictates, | she said, because “my constituency would not understand.” This, she added, is caused by “the plague of representation by local geographic elections.”
