navy day and titled, “In the Best Tradition.” On WIRE at 7 o'clock, & portion of the broadcast will feature the story. of young John Dahlgren, an obscure naval officer who made an important contribution to naval history: when he perfected his “soda water bottle,” a smooth bore gun that eliminated the danger of big rifles blowing up. “In the Best Tradition” will go on to highlight the traditions of the navy and their dramatic but little known origins and will include traditions in the making in the present war.
