FRALLTOVOTE,
“Patriotic Duty and Special Privilege,” State C. of C.
Executive Says.
‘Every Marion county voter should regard the Job of voting on Nov. 3 “not only as a patriotic duty but as & precious privilege,” Clarence A. Jackson, executive vice president of| ‘the state chamber of commerce, de\clared today in reviewing the results of a special survey of the 1940 ‘election. The survey showed that only vin of the county’s voting population |; went to the polls in the 1940 election. “The inescapable truth to be found In a most casual perusal of these _ figures is that the decision in every ~ election has rested with those who «chose to stay at home,” Mr. Jackson said. The report showed that of the total vote of 246,874 cast in the county ‘last election, 124,381 were Republicans and 122,192 were Democratic, ~The Republican percentage of the total vote cast was 39.2 and the Democratic percentage was 38.6.
