. MICHIGAN hasn't defeated Minnesota on the gridon in 10 years and the traditional rivals are to clash turday at Minneapolis. ... . At this writing the | Volverines are a slight favorite to hang one on the phers . . . and on the Gophers’ home grounds. So far this season Michigan has downed Great Lakes, Michigan State and Northwestern and lost to Iowa Cadets; Minnesota has defeated Pitt and Nebraska and lost to Iowa Cadets and Illinois. . In the event Michigan and Ohio State come up to their Nov. 21 | ‘game undefeated in Western conference competition it’s a safe guess that Columbus will be jammed for the attraction and that the at-
tendance will be tops for the season in the Big Nine.
. The tilt
comes one day before the rationing of gasoline. There were 13 fumbles in the Penn-Princeton game Saturday,
by Penn. .
. The tilt wound up in a tie, 6-6.
. Yale had a
h break against Navy. . . « Yale’s Sophomore ‘Lyfich caught a pass in the clear on Navy's 41 and then ran in the wrong direction
or 11 yards. .. . Navy won, 13-6.
: Fifty-one punts were booted in the scoreless tie between Penn | , Btate and Cornell + « The game was played on a wet, muddy field.
ays Irish Got ‘the Seahawks’ Goats
JIM COSTIN, South Bend Tribune:
“Notre Dame appeared to
thave the Iowa Cadets’ goats after the first quarter Saturday, and | i BEd McKeever, acting head coach in the absence of Frank Leahy, ¥ unintentionally poured it on the Seahawks late in the fourth quarter hen his third and fourth stringers—some of them not even listed

—nlade that touchdown that wasn’t allowed due to
& clipping penalty, then came right back to the four-yard line on ‘the next ‘play, but again were shoved back by a 15-yard penalty. It was an amazing exhibition on the part of the Irish.

= «FURTHER PROOF that the Seahawks were dazed was furnished ' in the third quarter. The Cadets reached a half a yard from the ‘Notre Dame goal, but a signal was missed, the ball from center sailed ‘by without anyone touching it, and the Seahawks lost 21 yards on
a8 the play.
: “Know who Seahawk Fullback George Benson, the old North7 i. western star, was trying to get at when Referee John Getchell pulled him away in the fourth quarter? Nobody but Johnny Lanahan, substitute center, who likes to fight so well that he occasionally lets
‘go at a teammate in scrimmage.”
