county draft registrants who want

direct from the selective service headquarters. Questions are being received at Junior Chamber of Commerce office, 815 Board of Trade building, and must be submitted before the meeting. This is an open meeting, however, for all who are interested. Questions may deal with any subject relating to the draft, and will be answered by the officials in charge of the many departments at selective service headquarters. Mayor Sullivan will extend greetings. Col. Robinson Hitchcock, state selective service director, will open the meeting with news of the draft situation and latest developments. The question and answer period will be led by Lieut. L. B. Shackelford. Representatives of the 15 Marion county. draft boards will be present, as well as representatives from all branches of the armed service.

Loss Would Be Costly

The Japanese have sufficient manpower available at nearby Rapaul and islands in the northern Solomons: to overwhelm the American marines on Guadalcanal if they can be landed. Despite the presence of an American naval task force of undisclosed size, they are succeeding in making landings. Fairly heavy losses in a naval engagement last week-end aid not deter them.

26 Divisions Face Siberia

The Japanese have large manpower resources, scattered from the borders of Siberia and. India to the South Sea islands. According to American army ‘estimates, the Japanese have between 1,000,000 and 1,500,000 men in the field. They also have about 4000 planes of all types in service and are producing about 350 a month. The disposition of the Japanese forces is placed roughly as follows
