Local Students to Join Annual Trek To Many Eastern Colleges This Month

THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THIS MONTH numerous students will be leaving Indianapolis to enter colleges. Among the first to go will be Miss Alice Boozer and Miss Emmy Pantzer; who will return to Smith college at Northampton, Mass., Monday. Miss Boozer will be a sophomore and Miss Pantzer, a junior. Early next week Miss Ann Atkins will enter her sophomore year at Masters school, Dobbs Ferry, N. Y. Last year Miss Atkins won
the highest award in athletics given to a first-year student. Dur-
ing the summer she won the city parks tennis tournament and was eliminated in the finals of the city and semi-finals of the state tournaments. ! #" 8 8 8 8 i Before returning to Vassar for her senior year, Miss Eliza-.
beth Meeker will visit Miss Polly Smith, formerly of this city, in,
Merion, Pa., and pne of her classmates, Miss Elizabeth Behr, in Brooklyn, N. Y. Later this month Miss Carol Noel and Miss Frances Bloch will go to Sarah Lawrence college in Bronxville, N. Y. Miss Margaret Townsend Eaglesfield has won a scholarship to assist the director of theater art at Finch Junior college this year. This summer she has been studying dramatics at Rollins studio, Fast Hampton, Long Island.
4 Civic to Honor New Director
‘ THE WOMEN’S AFFAIRS COMMITTEE of the Civic theater will hold its first meeting of the fall season on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14. Mrs. Kurt F. Pantzer, theater president, will be hostess at a cocktail tea in her home. The honor guests will be “Jack Hatfleld, new, Civic director, and Mrs. Hatfield. D.A.R. to Choose Delegates
AT ITS FIRST MEETING of the fall season, Caroline Scott Harrison chapter, D. A. R., will elect delegates to the state conference to be held in Lafayette Oct. 13 and 14. The meeting is set for 2 p. m. Thursday in the chapter house with Mrs. William Dobson, “regent, presiding. Mrs. William R. Humphreys, chairman of the tellers committee, and Mrs. Ray T. Fatout, vice chairman, will be in charge of the election. A #alk on "“Enduring Jdeals of the Constitution” will be given ‘by the Rt. Rev, Richard Ainslie ‘Kirchhoffer, bishop of the diocese ‘of Indianapolis. Music, provided by Mrs. O, Marvin Jones, will include songs by Mrs. A. H, Merriam Graves, accompanied by Mrs, Milton T. Rybolt. Year books will be distributed. Following the meeting, Bishop and Mrs. Kirchhoffer will be spe« cial guests at a tea. Hostesses will be Mesdames Carl Maetschke, H. Hanna, Herbert R. Hill, Raymond F. Orel, Francis W. and Frederick Albershardt.
