. Coming Up to Bat
ALONG ABOUT DEC. 7 this year, Walt Disney is going to unwind the most stupendous, hyper-colossal aviation picture ever made,
reports Paul Harrison, our, coastwise correspondent.
No Dumbo or
Mickey Mouse or any of the primordial, winged ‘monsters from “Fantasia” in it. This is straight drama—a history of aviation from the Wright Bros. to the future leveling of Japan by clouds of bombers.
Hollywood was puzzled by the news that Disney had paid $25,000 for screen rights to Maj. Alexander De Seversky's “Victory: Through Air Power.” But Hollywood didn’t believe in the realistic possibilities of hand-drawn movies. The effect is said to be something that the movie camera can hardly achieve. Vast panoramic air battles are shown. Disney plans to depict the early world | war air battles when French and . German observation pilots were tossing rocks and bottles at each other. When the narrative reaches | the present war, Seversky w narrate. : Then Seversky will present his | solution—vast armadas of longrange bombers and transports | blasting away the handicaps of distance and supply to reach the
enemy.

Asked what she'd like to do, the lady said: “I'd like to go to Loew’s State to see ‘Mrs. Minovitch.'” “ ,.. Maybe Metro hasn’t heard about the matronly lady in Indianapolis who demanded to know when Clark Gable, new air corps recruit, was going to assume command of Stout Field. ® ” 8

Miss Gish, as you doubtless remember, was one of the greatest of ‘the silent picture stars. DELHI, Sept. 7—Five hundred American enlisted men had an experience to write home about when they were entertained at the local palace of the Maharaja of Bikaner—one of New Delhi's pri-vately-owned showplaces. “It's sure a swanky setup,” said one of the boys who had been down to look the place over. “You'd think you were in a Hollywood movie set.

The marajah himself was unable to be there to greet his guests, but he gave the American lads full run of the place, even to the game rooms and squash courts. Harrison boys will be driving the six jeeps Charley has borrowed for the occasion, He says the idea is to show the folks what they're pay=ing for. He hopes to sell enough bonds to buy six more jeeps. This may be a bitter disappointment for some. Hedy Lamarr will NOT kiss anybody to induce them to buy war bonds. ‘Nor will any of the other glamour saleswomen from Hollywood kiss anybody. The war activities committee of the motion picture industry made this ruling after a Chicago man offered to buy a $25,000 bond if Hedy would kiss him. Reacted the fair LaMarr: “Let's ‘put a priority on kisses and save them for the boys in the service.” » o 8
