Dodgers Worry; Reiser ¥ 111
NEW YORK, Aug. 6 (U. P)— Despite their robust National league lead, the Brooklyn Dodgers faced a serious problem today when it was learned that Outfielder Pete Reiser,
“the circuit's leading batter, would
be out of action for several days. Reiser, main gun in the heavy Dodger attack, is suffering {from an upset stomach and headaches and if his condition fails to improve he will be sent to Johns Hopkins. hospital in Baltimore for a check-up. The ailment is believed an aftereffect of the accident Reiser suffered when he ran into a concrete wall at Sportsman’s park in St.
* Louis July 19. Dr. Robert Hyland,
who treated Reiser for concussion, said Pete would suffer headaches for a considerable period.

Thornton Lee Regains Clever Pitching to Beat Tigers, 1-0
.By PAUL SCHEFFELS United Press Staff Correspondent NEW YORK, Aug. 6.—Thornton Lee and the riddle of his inactivity were in the clear today and from behind the scenes cime one of the most remarkable stories of quiet courage in sports, Lee won 22 games last year, compiling an earned run average of
2.32.
He might have done better this year if a discouraging series
of misfortunes had not laid him low—almost too low to come back—
2 Ring Stars
but he’s hit the trail up again and is moving fast. Lee hung on, grimly and took his biggest stride back yesterday: when he limited the Tigers to seven hits, giving the White Sox a 1-0 victory. All the clever pitching that made Lee one of the most respected pitchers in the business was back at the old stand. He fanned six batters, walked only three and left nine runners stranded. Lee dropped his| inaugural comeback effort by one run July 25, in a 10-inning struggle with the A's. Chicago scored yesterday in ‘the sixth when Don Xolloway stole home. He singled and took second when Wally Moses beat out a bunt. He reached third when Myril Hoag hit into a double play and then slid safely home with Luke Appling at bat. Detroit's Dixie Parsons was ejected for arguing about the play. Tex Hughson shut out Phila-
delphia with three hits, pitching fheyylelr futures.

How Old Is Wright?
Wright,
the California Negro
whose age is estimated variously from 30 to 40, stakes his hopes of
belatedly following the
great Henry
Armstrong to the lightweight and
welterweight thrones. Stolz is favored bec: great bout with Angott
ause of his and because
he will have the advantages of
weight and youth, He
is expected
to weigh 133 pounds to Wright's 128. Those are major reasons why Stolz
is the 9-5 favorite.
The weight advantage does not worry Wright, veteran of more than 15 years in the ring, because during the last three or four years he
has been battling lightweights and NO
welterweights. His opponents included three high-ranking 147-
pounders: Cocoa Kid
and Jimmy|g
Leto, whom he held to close decisions, and Saverio Turiello, from whom he won the verdict.
