By FRANK WIDNER {THE FIRST of the big-time radio shows to wind up its summer holiday and return to the airwaves will be the “Aldrich Family,” which will come back to NBC and WIRE Aug. 18 for 18 fourth season as a halfhour radid feature. Off the air for five weeks, cast of the show will return intact, with. Ezra Stone as = the lovable, hard<luck kid, 4 Henry Aldrich. He created the role in Clifford Ca Goldsmith's com-’ edy, “What a Mr Stone Life,” in 1937. The harried, but tolerant, father of Henry will be House Jameson, known to radio listeners as Mr. Sam Aldrich for more than three years. Kay Raht.is Mrs. Aldrich and Jack Kelk will be heard as Henry's pal, Homer. 2 The “Aldrich Family” was first acclaimed in a guest spot on the old Rudy Vallee variety show in . July, 1938. Following a season as a five-minute comedy offering: on the Kate Smith hour, the feature was expanded to a half hour to substifite for the Jack Benny show during the latter's 1939 summer vacation. It was then given a 30-min-ute :spot on NBC the following October, Hy a : THEY GET the script ideas for 1*Mr. District Attrney” from the darndest places. ' : Ed Byron, who pfoduces the series, is recovering from a minor operation in a New York hospital.

Junior discovers that 130,000,000 Americans are in dire need of Simpson Squidges -and decides a sponsored radio show is the solution. He campaigns to find a new singing star and make her “America’s Squidge Sweetheart.” She is aecepted by critics and public alike as a comic discovery of the age.
