~NEW CIVIC CLUB
IS ESTABLISHED
Includes Families Living in
Northern Hills and Meadowbrook.
Families living outside Indiahapolis in the Northern hills and Meadowbrook additions are going to have a unified voice in civic matters
from now on. Residents of that section have announced the formation of the Nor-Brook Civic club, Ine., with Edson T. Wood as president. Its purpose, according to Mr. Wood, is to unify the residents so that they would have more voice in any matter that would need public attention. : ' “As an incorporated group,” he said, “we will have more success in such matters as oiling roads and obtaining better transportation facilities.” NN Rejected Town Plan The section covered by the new civic club runs from the north side of 75th st. to the south side of 86th st. It is bounded on the east by College ave. and runs west to White river, following the river’s course for a short distance and then going back up to 86th st. The foundation for the civic organization was laid last spring when representatives of that section met
in the schoolhouse at Nora. At|
first, it was suggested that the section incorporate as a town, but that was voted down and the civic club was decided on. Besides Mr. Wood, other officers are W. C., Smith, vice president; O. P. Kensinger, secretary, and Doyle Zaring, treasurer. In addition to the officers, Lee A. Caldwell, L. A. Shaner, A. G. Shoptaugh and
Mrs. Evelyn Kashuk, former New York model and wife of Corp. Jay E. Kashuk, is president of the new “American War Brides,” formed to foster morale of both soldiers and soldiers’ wives.
