Trustees Vote Investigation Of ‘Political Termites’ Accusation. PATON a Ju i

board of trustees today authorized an investigation by the American

council on education of charges

made by Atty. Gen. George Barrett that the university has been on the downgrade since 1934 and that “political termites” have infested its administration.

The council, it was understood, will not touch upon the controversy

. between Mr. Barrett and Svein-

bjorn Johnson, university legal counsel. This quarrel was resolved partially 10 days ago, when Mr. Johnson's $6000 job as state director of the office of government reports was eliminated by the office of war information.

Objected to Two Jobs

Mr, Barrett objected to Mr. Johnson's holding two jobs. He contended also that his office, not Mr. Johnson, has jurisdiction over university legal affairs. A commission of five educators from the nation will investigate Barrett's chages. It will examine the university’s scientific, educational and research work by Oct. 20. In June trustees asked the university’s general advisory committee to

- investigate the charges. Mr. Bar-

rett refused to appear, claiming it was “handpicked and could not be

The problem of the Eire-Ulster border is a knotty one, owing to the way it winds in and out, sometimes

cutting villages off from their national agricultural districts. Moreover, there is a steady flow daily of laborers from Eire into Ulster. The bulk of labor which built the American naval base at Londonderry came from across the border, a few miles northwest of the town.
