By FRANK WIDNER

INDIANAPOLIS radio stations have been forced to do some fast sleight-of-hand work in order to

sandwich in the address tonight by Secretary of State Cordell Hull , which is scheduled for all the major radio networks. The address will be carried on all local stations except WIBC at 8:30 oclock until conclusion, a which is expecCordell Hull | 1%. % be about WFBM has canceled the Grant Park concert program scheduled at that time and has moved the CBS series, “The First Line,” up to 9:15 o'clock. Bob Crosby and his “Music Hall” series will be cut to a half hour in order to enable WIRE to carry the speech. The fate of the Bob Hawk show, in case Mr. Hull's talk should run past 9 o'clock, is not known. WISH and the Blue network will carry “America’s Town Meeting of the Air,” one hour earlier—from 7:30 to 8:30 p. m.—and then will swing into the Hull address. WIBC has made plans to transcribe the broadcast and play it tomorrow night at 7:15 p. m. Their schedule tonight is as previously ‘annaunced.

FROM CBS: Nazi propagandist Lord Haw Haw, who has held the short-rave lie-loosing championship of Berlin for nearly three years, lost about 1000 yards re‘cently when a Tokyo twaddle tosser announced that a submarine shelling the Oregon coast landed a shell in the Yankee stadium. Nice shooting.

He Has an Important Job, But Army Planes Chase Him

emy planes are landing, or bombing, or spreading poison gas. | Now, the army can’t take any chances. So after checking by phone, pursuit planes are usually sent to investigate. The first experience is likely to be a little trying to a new, young pilot. He'll be poking along about his business, barely missing a field of pea vines in an 85-mile-an-hour biplane, when he’ll see a couple of P-40’s circling overhead. When he climbs above the trees at the ‘end of the field down they come in a screaming drive, shoot over his head at 300 miles an hour, inspect and identify him and zoom away. Mr. Wilson has only three pilots —all married—for his five planes this summer. But even though the three would probably rather be in the Air Corps, their job is an important one. Military and civilian needs demand a bumper crop of vegetables this year. And one of the best ways to insure it is to keep ’em dusting.
