Packers Complain They Are Losing i Money Because Hogs Are So High|
By ROGER BUDROW
THE SCRAP OVER FARM PRICES is getting hotter. Packers are beginning to grumble about the price they must pay farmers for live hogs. They are so high (Monday’s $15 ‘was a 16-year record) that packers claim they are losing “money on pork. Meat cuts sold by packers are under ceiling ; prices but there is no limit to the price farmers can get for their hogs from the packers. The result is that when prices are high, ne packer is caught in the middle.
