United Christian Adult Leaders Will Discuss Problems of Day.

Several Local Men.
Dr. J. M. Horton, executive sec retary of the Indiana Baptist convention, is one of several Indian- | apolis clergymen to receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity recently. The Northern Baptist Theologieal seminary, Chicago, conferred the degree on Dr, Horton because {of his “outstanding record as pastor. administrator and convention | executive,” according to the Baptist Observer, Dr. Horton also preached the seminary baccalaureate sermon. Dr. H. E. Hinton, returned missionary from Burma, now central representative of the ministers’ and missionaries’ benefit board of the Northern Baptist convention, was named Doctor of Divinity by Bates college. Lewiston, Me, Dr. Virgil G. Hunt, superintendent of the White River Conference of the United Brethren church, received the same degree from Indiana Central college, and Dr. Sumner L. Martin, pastor of the Roberts Park Methodist church received it from De Pauw university,

Emerson Avenue Baptists
To Hold Re-dedication Rite
The old buildings on the South end of the property have been torn away and the entire church covered with brick veneer with stone trim. The basement has been remodeled to include a new kitchen and dining room. New steps and walks have been added and the lawn landscaped. One of the four new stained glass windows is dedicated to the church's men in the armed forces and the other five new windows are also memorials. The foyer and the auditorium are both illuminated by fluorescent lighting and the latter, furnished in leather and chrome. The choir directed by Helen Thomas Martin will sing at all services and the Rev. Mr, King will preach on “Are We Building?” at morning worship. Climax to Rubber Drive
The young people's intensive, serap rubber campaign will come to a climax in a military-religious service tomorrow at 7:30 p. m. in the Southport Methodist church, Youth of the church, who have canvassed the community for serap rubber, will present the program. Proceeds from the rubber wiil be given to the church building fund. Miss Jean MoeKinney is program chairman.
