WELL, ALL THIS happened | two years ago. Sherlee Colleen {| Turner is 18 now. She writes and delivers a sometimes sponsored, sometimes sustaining pro- | gram of Hollywood comment 15 | ‘minutes a week over station WIRE. is handing out a verbal bouquet. Eager and unusually alert, Miss | Turner hasn't let any grass grow under her feet. When Keith's cpened up, she invited some of the vaudeville folks over to be interviewed on her program. She knew she had a natural there and it worked out to everyone's advantage, especially that of the vaudeville folk. Her ambition is to go on “the stage. Her reason sounds eminently sensible: She wants to be able to see her audience. And her radio following, I am sure, would be delighted to see her, for she has all the youthful and alive attractiveness that they hear in her voice. 2
= = Age Is a Problem AT THE MOMENT, she is torn between the stage, staying in radio and going to college. She thinks she ought to go to college, but secretly she fears that if she does, she'll have to start all over again at the ripe old-age of 22. Even now, age is a little problem. She hasn't forgotten that at Muncie they told her she was too young. She reveals a trace of annoyance at the mention of her recent association with high school, because, well, it dates her. All of which makes Sherlee Colleen Turner a perfectly natural person with a little bit tore energy and enterprise than the average girl who daydreams. She was practical enough to win a scholarship to the National high school institute which was conducted last year at Northwestern university. There for five weeks she received instruction in public speaking, diction, acting and dramatic interpretation. Outside of childhood dancing lessons and high school speech courses, that was the only formal preparation for her work she’s ever had.
On Keith's Stage

NEIGHBORHOODS
By Frank Widner
IF YOU SHOULD HAPPEN TO BE A down-to-earth Hoosier and love the history and color that has made Indiana what it is today, you can't let a picture iike “My Gal Sal” slip by without seeing it. This is the musical which was supposed to have its premiere here
but somehow it got lost in the shuffle.
Anyway, if you didn't see it
downtewn, now is your chance to see the film which our Mr. Dick
Lewis called “the season's best musical.” ‘My Gal Sal” is filled with the fine music of Hoosier-born “Paul Dresser. Victor Mature does an admirable job in the role of .the composer and Rita Hayworth is about as good a “Sal” as Hollywood could expect to find. If you happen to be the kind of a person that enjoys such songs as “On the Banks of the Wabash” and “My Gal Sal,” don't fail to see this picture. It willebe at the Irving, St. Clair, Strand and Uptown through Saturday.
2 ”n o CHARLES LAUGHTON turns in another of his admirable bieces of acting in the “Tuttles of Tahiti,” a story of a sea-faring family in the South seas. This picture has everything from the historic cock fights to goed, entertaining pantomime. Watch for the scene when Mr. Laughton utters a soundless plea
for a small loan with his big toe.
Jon Hall and Peggy Drake hold the romantic interest. It will be at the Rivoli and the Irving through Saturday.

THE PICTURE which Bert Wheeler and the late Robert Woolsey made back in 1929. “Rio Rita,” has been remade into a 1942 version’ with Bud Abbott and Lou Costello in the starring roles. Others in the cast include Kathg ryn Grayson and John Carroll. It will be at the Granada for a week beginning tomorrow and at the Rivoli and the Belmont through Saturday.

What makes a young woman turn her dreams into a reality? Miss Turner doesn't quite know. “To be quite honest with you.” she said, “I don't have much talent. But I might as well be there as anyone else.” That sounds like the statement of an auburn-haired young lady who is going places.
