New Petty Officers
Among the newest petty officer recruits who have entered the Great Lakes naval station for training are eight men from Indianapolis. They are now receiving instruction in fundamentals of seamanship and naval procedure and upon completion of the training they may be ordered to active duty with the fleet or sent to some naval station. worth of opium into the United States from Mexico. : Ten others named in a secret in- : |dictment were to be brought here for arraignment and trial as soon as they are apprehended in Atlantic and Pacific coast cities. Narcotics Agent John W. Marsh said the arrests were being carried out. Federal agents said that Abramson was suspected of being the local agent for the nation-wide ring which had outlets in cities from coast to coast.
