NEW YORK, June 18 (U. P.).—The greatest group of track and field stars assembled since the 1936 Olympic tryouts opens the 55th annual National A. A. U. championships at Triborough stadium today for the benefit of army emergency relief. Spiked-shoe champions from every section of the country were on hand for the two-day meet, which opens at 1 p. m. with the first of 21 85 8 8 event. Before the day ends 19 new junior champions will be crowned and the senior 10,000-meter run and the senior 3000-meter walk will be decided.
