There May Be ‘Gold’ Lurking In the Attic
By RUTH MILLETT MINING is a hard, dirty job, but {f Mrs. America is willing to tackle it she may find there's gold in her

closets. In Los Angeles they are mining dump, and it looks as though it will yield several thousand tons of easily recoverable tin — as; well as a lot of] other usable material. With that bit of news for an inspiration, Mrs. America ought to do a little prospecting in her own home. Many new materials will soon futlf Miggi4 UC Scarce and] with taxes and living costs rising, it is going to be hard for many families to buy everything they need. When new things are hard to get, old things take on value. The clothes that Mrs. America laid aside because they were a little out of stvie but too good to throw away can be dug out and fixed up. Cast-off furniture can be reconditioned, and so can old equipment of all kinds, if Mrs. America will look at it with a little imagination. = ” =

Doubtless this fear dates .back to your girlhood. Did vou have a sister or a girl friend who always was getting ahead of you? Or a mother who prodded : 'vou? Somewhere along the line | there must have been another womi |an who worsted you and laid the # | foundation for your present un- | easiness. t | Such incidents are not easy to remember.
