PEACE PAVILION NO MONUMENT

Say Jap Pavilion Is | ‘Hollow Shell.’

NEW YORK, June § (U. Fy | Park Commissioner Robert Moses | assured the Flushing Ridge civic assbelation today that the Japanese pavilion, on the site of the New York World's fair, was only a “hollow II" and certainly was no monument to the enemy. The association had threatened to | tear down the pavilion, plece by! piece, unless the park commission | hurriedly wrecked it. Mr. Moses said that the birch. | wood from the pavilion's paneling had been used to repair playground equipment; that plumbing. electrical and ventilating equipment had been used throughout the city, and that the brass from it had been turned over to the department of pur-| chases, which undoubtedly had sold it as strap to war industries. The “hollow shell” of the monument the Japanese had dedicated to peace will be demolished as soon as! men and equipment are available,
