DEAR JANE JORDAN—I am 22 years old and the mother of a small baby which I dearly love. I was very much in love with another person when I married. This person was my second cousin and he also was very much in love with me. He asked me to marry him, but I was too much afraid of the outcome of marrying a second cousin. Since I have been married I have heard of several cases in which second cousins were married and how |I wished I had heard of it before. My husband has been true to me |since our marriage and I also have tried to uphold the marriage vows, but if still loving another person is breaking any of the vows I'm afraid that is what I have done. My husband is a very poor provider and last winter after our child was born we scarcely had enough food to eat and quite often ate with our folks.
I worked befere marriage and had some really nice girl friends, but my

Then there is the young man whom you were afraid to marry. After all was your joint love so very strong when neither of you were moved to investigate the laws governing the marriage of second cousins? If it took more courage than the man possessed to go against public opinion then, wouldn't it take even more courage to take a divorced woman with another man’s child? These things
