INSPECTION SET ~ FOR TECH ROTC

Technical high school’s R. O. T. C. unit will march onto its parade ~ fleld a week from today for its annual federal inspection, with the hopes of winning its 21st consecutive horor rating. Inspecting the regiment will be Lieut. Col. Ernest E. Tabscott, accompanied by Capt. C. A. Pruett, former Tech R. O. T. C. instructor, now at Indiana university. The 868-piece R. A. T. C. band will lead the parade and Col. Don Bryan will be at the head of the regiment. Outstanding cadets will

be : presented . with awards after marching onto the field.

Battalions in Review

After the presentation the two battalions, the first led by Cadet Maj. ‘Albert De Hart, and the second by Cadet Maj. Walter Dehn, will pass in review. The 10 company commanders are cadet Capts. Donald Allspaw, David Klapper, Warren Buschman, Warner Chapman, Vernon Buchanan, Ronald Hull, Walter Reagan, Robert .~Wheasler, Francis Wright and Norman Littell. Regimental executive officer during the afternoon will be Lieut. Col. Frank Stewart, Capt. Edward Schilling, who will have the duties of adjutant, and Capt. Robert Wheasler, officer of the day. Award to Be Given

The H. F. Marqus award in honor of a former head of Technical high school’s electrical department, will be presented June 3 to the boy in the department who has achieved the greatest degree of success. The lapel pin award will be given for the first time this year. Mr. Markus died in April, 1941, after directing the department for a number of years. ” ” »

{Certificates were won by 12 Technical high school girls in the annual stenographic contest held at the school this week. Edythe McClain, Doris J. Rose and Patricia Frank won awards in the unrestricted class. In the stenography III contest Marian Wiggins, Jean Rodger and Janet Du Granrut won certificates. Dixie Nix, Patricia Henley and Alice Dove won certificates in the stenography IV contest.

Six Technical high school science students have taken the Science Clubs of America examination which is aimed at finding science talent which will be of value to the nation in war and peace. - Eldon Davidson, Warren Heisterkamp, John Kinnhaman, Carl Nordsieck, Curtis Scott and Mary Watkins took the tests. The 40 pupils high in the national contest will go to Washington for the final examination. The high boy and girl in the final contest will receive Westfnghouse science grand scholarships
